Broken Beach — known locally as Pasih Uug — is a geological curiosity and one of Nusa Penida's defining landmarks. A natural archway of limestone connects the mainland cliffs across a circular cove, creating a sheltered channel where the sea churns and swirls in brilliant shades of turquoise and jade. The beach itself is not directly accessible, but the view from the clifftop path is one of Bali's most arresting: a perfect circular bay framed by vertical white cliffs, with the open ocean beyond the arch. The water in the channel below is a natural corridor for marine life. Manta rays are regularly spotted cruising the current lines in the passage, particularly during the dry season (April–October), and oceanic sunfish (mola mola) are occasionally sighted. Even from above, snorkellers in wetsuits can sometimes be seen among the rays. The short 200-metre walk from the car park passes a row of local warungs selling fresh coconut and cold drinks — a welcome stop after the day's island exploration. Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong share a car park and are almost always visited together as a half-day excursion from the Ped or Crystal Bay area of Nusa Penida.
